You should always be checking the spirit in which you talk to people about your faith. Be careful not to be or come across as sarcastic, condescending or self-righteous. It is easy to get caught in a sinful manor when people react as they sometimes do, with a negative response to what you are saying. You must always let love be your motivation. Only the love of God in us can give us the strength to talk to others in a proper loving way. It is not our nature. It reveals something about us in that we have to be told to go out and spread the Gospel. So many are in need but we come up with excuse after excuse. This just reveals our sinful character. It show our lack of love. As Charles Spurgeon said, “We must be ashamed at the mere suspicion of unconcern.” So if we lack enough love to talk to others or we lack love when witnessing, we need to get on our knees and ask for help from God, who will give it to us.
“If we are devoted to the cause of humanity, we shall soon be crushed and brokenhearted, for we shall often meet with more ingratitude from men than we would from a dog; but if our motive is love to God, no ingratitude can hinder us from serving our fellow men.” Oswald Chambers
“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.” Hebrews 10:36
